Queensland Diving

Diving in Queensland is a once in a lifetime experience that will allow you to get up close and personal with one of the most diverse underwater ecosystems on the planet. The Great Barrier Reef is home to thousands of species of fish, corals, sharks, sponges, and crustaceans. By far the best way to experience the diversity of these waters is to go scuba diving, and many divers have dreamed of taking a dive in the Queensland Great Barrier Reef.

The reefs off the coast of Queensland are easily accessible from the shore. Boats will take individuals or small groups out to the reefs for a small fee. The ease of reaching this section of the Great Barrier Reef makes it a favorite spot with many divers. However, there is plenty of reef for everyone, and so much diversity in terms of the marine life here.

Numerous corals, sea turtles, and scores of fish are some of the things you'll see when diving off the coast of Queensland. Another favorite of divers is the whitetip reef shark who inhabits this area. You may have the chance to see one, or a few, during your dive! But don't worry-- this is a relatively safe experience, as few divers have had problems with the sharks.

Dive instructors in Queensland are knowledgeable and friendly. If this is your first dive, they will make sure that you thoroughly understand how to use your equipment, and that you feel safe and ready to go for your first dive. They will stay with you for the entire experience, to guide you through the reef and make sure that you are doing okay. Many first time divers can get nervous, but these guides do a great job of taking care of you. There is a lot on offer here for more experienced divers, as well. A few dive shops offer advanced courses for those who want to take their skills to the next level.

Whether you are a beginner or expert scuba diver, no one can debate the value of visiting the Great Barrier Reef. Queensland is the best departure point for your visit, since it's very close to the reef and offers one of the most diversely populated areas of marine life. Enjoy your dive in Queensland!
